BugOff! From Merijin, creator of HiJackTHis, CWShredder, and more.

"A new app is available for download: BugOff. This disables a few exploits that are commonly used by browser hijackers to install themselves onto your system. In essence, it prevents such hijackers from ever installing, like SpywareBlaster.
There are no patches available from Microsoft for these exploits. Even if your system is fully up to date from WindowsUpdate you are vulnerable! This app should be used by everyone that uses Internet Explorer to browse the web. "

"Browser hijackers use a variety of methods to trick the user into installing them, but a growing
part of them uses vulnerabilities in Internet Explorer instead to install completely silent. Since
some of these exploits have NOT been patched by Microsoft yet, this app provides a
temporary solution for these vulnerabilities, by disabling the vulnerable Windows components."

Tufenuf, thanks for the link. It looks like he made one last tool for all of us before he starts back to school.

When you execute BugOff, read the first screen carefully. It disables Windows components and you may have problems after applying the patch.

He specifically mentions:

1) Outlook Express will fail to display email
2) the Windows help screens may not work

The BugOff patches can be easily disabled if you have problems.

Good eye there Tufenuf.I dont use Ie myself, but i know some people that do that would welcome that patch.Just to add a little info to what blackdogx mentioned that You are immune to these exploits if you use an alternate non IE-based) browser
like Opera, Netscape, Mozilla or FireFox.

You can save those headaches by switching browsers.I use mozilla on my linux os,and also on my win xp and i find i have alot less problems as compared to Ie,and until mozilla gets shot at just like Ie is getting shot at ill just stick to mozilla.
