BTYahoo Shutting PC down?

A client came to me after spending a month trying to get rid of a problem where, when on the Internet, the famous box pops up saying the computer will shut down in 60 seconds. She thought it was Sasser and ran all the usual programs to clean the system, to no avail. I repeated the checks and also found nothing, but interestingly I loaded a new connection for her through one of my Dial-up ISP's since she had a different problem as well, and when connecting to the Internet through that one (ic24) the shutdown problem did not occur. That pointed to the problem being caused at the BT server end. At this point I was at a loss. However, I had another client who had done a clean install due to a virus problem, but he couldn't get his modem to work so that he could re-load his Dial-up ISP disk. I fixed the modem problem, took it back to his house where we then loaded his ISP disk, BT Yahoo, and as soon as we got into the server after entering his login name the box popped up saying the computer would shut down in 60 seconds. He then told me that was the problem he had before and caused him to clean install. Bear in mind - clean install -therefore no virus on computer (I scanned his Windows XP disk as well). So the problem has got to be related to Yahoo. I also put my ic24 connection on his computer and we could access the Internet perfectly well - no shutdown. Both clients use XP Home. Has anyone else had this problem or know how to cure it?

i heard alot about the 60 second problem but not the BT. i had a problem with one of my pc and at first i thought it was a virus though i couldnt find any. but the minute that i download all the patches from MS, the problem went a way. there is a way by the way to stop the computer from restarting, but thats not really the cure to the problem.

I've found a solution. Disable Messenger service to prevent it starting on boot.
