My little brother was using my computer when a screen popped up that said "brasil.exe virus detected do you want to allow it access?" It might have been brasil.bas or something. He clicked yes. My computer stopped working after this. It would lock up on startup. I tried to put that hard drive in my other computer as a slave, but it only read the hard drive as being 972k. It is a 45 GB drive. After this, I put the infected HD back in my main computer and tried to run scandisk but it didn't fix anything. It would lock up. I tried restoring some backup registry files but the computer gave me the message invalid boot disk (talking about the hard drive, not the disk drive). After this I tried reinstalling windows, thinking it would restore my installation and my files would still be there. Now it has a clean installation of WInME on it, but all my files are gone and it shows the drive as only being 9 GB large. I don't know what to do at this point. I really really need the information that was on that computer. What do you guys suggest I do? I can give you any information you might need.

You have the opaserv virus, this is all
I can offer.

It sounds like you were hit by a worse variant of Opaserv, Opaserv.K according to Symantec.
I've helped out a lot of people regarding this variant. Unfortunately, the news is not good for you, as you've already noticed. For more information, read this link, post #3:

Then you'll want to read this general writeup on Opaserv, here:
