Norton AV has found the W32.gnuman.worm virus in a file called gspot.exe in my master boot record. However, it cannot remove it so should I "sys" the master boot record? What is the best way to get rid of this thing?

it shouldn't be in your master boot record, according to sarc, search for gspot.exe on your c: drive, when found ,disable autoprotect, then hold the shift button, right click it and choose delete. then re-enable auto protect, and run a full scan.

that should say right click gspot.exe and choose delete, while pressing the shift key, so it bypasses the recycle bin. you may also need to disable system restore, reboot, then enable system restore, to remove it from there.
