Each day I get several Norton "Virus Alerts," usually relating to W32.Spybot.Worm. The message says it's "unable to repair" and the next box says "Access to file was denied." When I run a Norton scan, even in the SAFE mode, there is no virus to be found, and nothing was put into quarentine. If there was a worm, what happened to it? My regular virus dialoge boxes have a yellow border, but these have a chinese red color. Someone said that it might be a bogus virus alert. I've tried to send an email to Symantec, but they make it practically impossible to contact them for help. Can anyone tell me what's going on?

hey HOWIE,

norton alerts are often framed in red, usually indicating that it detected something it can't deal with.

if it fixes or repairs the item, the next window telling you that the "threat was repaired and it is now safe to resume using your computer" will be framed in green.

PS: you will grow old and gray waiting for Symantec to respond to your queries.

Try Disabling System Restore, reboot and Enabling it again. Disable System Restore and see it that help. I would also recommend one of the Online virus scans as a check.
