hello friends as suggested by u(in my previous post abt good fire wall).iam using sygate fire wall its working pretty good.i have some more doubts regarding it.i want to block ougoing traffic by allowing only in coming traffic for a particular application,i didn't find any option in it.so pls let me know how to do it or suggest me any other application for it thanks firoz

There are parts of XP that require Sygate or any software firewall to allow it internet access, Generic Host and IE for example. If you block these programs you will loose your ability to connect to the internet. You can select to have Sygate to always ask you for permission for each program request, instead of always allow. This will disable your antivirus program's ability to get the latest virus definitions automatically and to scan incoming email if it has that feature. What is it you are concerned about? IMHO, there are more dangers in having normal settings for your browser to allow you to easily surf the net than always allowing permission for necessary programs through your firewall.
