Currently, I work am working in a corporate environment with 13 ThinkCentre IBM computers (various newer models) that after you log on with credentials the screen comes up blank without icons. C-A-D works, Task Manager and entering explorer.exe in File, New Task, brings the desktop back. After months of troubleshooting, I have found it to be Corporate Symantec Version 10 that is causing this. Version 9.0 works fine. Symantec has offered suggestions that did not correct and they are out of ideas or help. IBM has not ran into this issue and directed me to software support. We have updated BIOS and Chipsets. Also, we have Created new profiles on each machine and rebuilt our corporate Symantec server. Ad-aware and Symantec find nothing. Doesn't matter if plugged into corporate network or not, blank screen still occurs. No other noted oddities occur on these 13 machines.
The problem is intermittent and 800 other computers in house are fine.
Suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
