Subject: blank entry in msconfig startup tab OS: Xp CPU/Ram: ?

Comment: Hey all. I posted here a little while inquiring if someone could be monitoring my computer. I'd been chatting with someone online and they started making references to songs I'd downloaded, or sites I'd joined recently. I never really did clear it up. Most recently I ran msconfig and found that in the startup section there was something weird. there was a checkbox for a program that had no information. It was just a check box with a blank entry for "startup item" and "command" It has an entry for "location" SOFTWARE\Microsoft\windows\currentversion\run. I went there in the registry and there was nothing there. (also it may be worth noting that when I ran regedit it this location was already open) Anyone have a clue what this is? Thanks

Reply: (edit)I have exactly the same thing, I wonder if it has to do with XP. On another thread, I was told by my hijack thread, that I had no trojan or virus infection. But I am curious if anyone knows what this blank file is?

Reply: (edit)Same here; been wondering about it for weeks. A check box, a dotted line rectangular box where the name of the startup item should be, and a completely blank area to the right. Under Windows98SE. How can I get rid of it?
