Bios Virus

I recently built a computer with an Asus P4S533-x motherboard which has EZflash and Crash free bios. I was trying to recycle a 20g hard-drive. On trying to load up the OS, the loading stopped and would not finish. I thought that maybe the HD was just caput so I bought a new one, but that did not remedy the situation. Now the computer will not even attempt to load the OS, and on occassion it comes up with screen that says there is a Bios virus (probably contracted from the old HD). I downloaded the updated Bios from Asus, but in EZflash it says that they are the wrong bios when I know for sure that they are the right ones. Setup is accessable as well as Post, and the computer registers that everything is hooked up, but it will not load the OS (WinXP). I get one beep on Post. The Crash free Bios are supposed to be able to be fixed even in the case of a virus by using the EZflash system. I must admit, I'm better at working with the hardware than the software--is there a particular boot disc or other program that might remedy the situation?

I had tried to reply to your BIOS virus, but this 'network' probably didn't accept my reply 'cos I wasn't logged-in. I also have a BIOS virus, Big Time. This now infests TWO different PCs (m/boards) and it'll NEVER be cleared out of the BIOS chips. Also I've now got 5 (FIVE) hard drives that also have this virus on them too! So I need to get the 5 H-drives cleaned off and no doubt throw away the 2 M/Bs! Henceforth only my KNOWN friends and family will be able to contact me through the *REAL* e-mail system on my P.C.s and the rest will go through hotmail or juno mail. Turns out some of my 'buddies' at work decided to "get me" and I was stupid enough to allow them to find out my e-mail address. Afterwards, one of 'em wanted to learn whether I could STILL surf the web! (Warning, Warning Will Robinson! Alien ship is approaching!) So be sure you DON'T allow anyone to learn your *actual* e-mail address if your not SURE they're okay. Although I'm married, I'm an ugly guy who is 'presumed' to be light in the loafers - so I'm always having to contend with this type nonsense. (this is about like being a U.S. soldier in Iraq) Probably you can get your hard drive cleaned up - but I don't know how right now. Maybe this can be done on a Linux system, since the BIOS virus is aimed against WIN PC systems. You KNOW the H-D manufacturers CAN clean off hard drives: they complain bitterly about so many of their drives being returned for warrantee work that only have caught a virus. - Wallyguy

I will buy all infected motherboards and hard drives if you want to sell them.
