Comment:
The bios virus I believe I have causes the following to happen. a) The bios clock spins randomly until a key is pressed. b) Inwindows xp inthe address bar of "run" dashes ----- keep appearing and I cannot enter text. c) In any search engine the address bar fills up with dashes then freezes. d) In ie7 the address bar continues to fill with dashes and then freezes. Does any one know what virus I have? and How to get rid of it?

"bios clock spins randomly" What clock are you talking about? Do you mean the time in the system tray? If so, how exactly is it "spinning?"
As for the dashes, I would tend to think you have a stuck key. Have you tried another keyboard?
Are you running any anti-virus programs? When did this behavior start?

The symptoms you described for "BIOS virus" are nowhere near the real PC Killers. If you really had BIOS virus your computer will be too sick to even boot to Windows.

Thank you Jennifer for the reply. I am referring to the bios set up utility clock. The anti virus program I use is Panda 2008. I had not thought of another keyboard. Can it be that simple? I will try. Many thanks.
