Comment:

How do I clear the BIOS password so I can put in a new one on a Toshiba Satellite 4010CDS?

I am trying to fix my sister's laptop that she spilled coffee on. She took it into a service center(MicroAge) to get it fixed and they told her that she might as well get a new one. I asked her to send me the laptop and it seems to me that all it needs is a new keyboard. I have unplugged the keyboard and plugged mine in and it seems to work. When it does start up though it asked for the BIOS disk. I downloaded the BIOS from Toshiba's site and installed it, but now I need the password.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you!! What a simple solution!!!

I feel so bone-headed. Why didn't I think of that!?

Anyway it works! All she needs is a new keyboard--As opposed to a new laptop. I guess MicroAge just wanted to sell a new one.

Thanks again!!

Hi!

Little surfing on net and I found
http://www.cgsecurity.org/index.html?cmospwd.html from
there I tried http://www.cgsecurity.org/keydisk.exe

You need to make a dongle to fit into the printer port. A 25-way male connector and join up the following pins:

1 – 5 – 10
2 – 11
3 – 17
4 – 12
6 – 16
7 – 13
8 – 14
9 – 15
18 – 25

Plug dongle into printer port and power up machine.

Works on every Tosh laption

Pete

Hey Pete! I built a dongle for a Toshiba Satellite 330CDS, but it doesn't work. And yes, I built the dongle correctly...
