Comment:
Email problems began 10 or 12 days ago very suddenly on both my Yahoo and Msn emails. The operating strip containing fonts, color, Bold, Italics, indents has disappeared. Also, no copies of past emails are attached when i reply or forward emails; No automatic signature, etc. Also, there is a very loud noise when I click on things with my mouse---or whenever an incoming email is announced.Great difficulty getting in to MSN Hotmail. I have tried numerous anti virus programs to clean system, i.e. Hijack this with no success. System Restore will not work. Have Win XP (I use Internet Exployer as browser.) Need your help FAST!
>>>>I have tried numerous anti virus programs to clean system<<<< Which ones? Which spyware progs have you used?
If you have an XP installation disc (NOT a recovery Disc)you could try a repair install: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/... If you don't have an install disc, ask friends families or aquaintances, I'm sure someone has one. It has to be either XP Home or XP Pro....whichever one is installed on your PC. You CANNOT use an XP Pro disc if you are using XP Home...or vice versa. Some HELP in posting on Cnet plus free progs and instructions Glad to Help!
Many thanks for your suggestions! Have used the following anti-spyware and anti-virus programs: Ad-Aware SE, AVG Anti-Spyware, AVG Anti Virus, Super Anti Spyware, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and Panda Active Scan---and Hijackthis. Am having trouble laying my hands on my XP Home Installation disc. (Someone told me this would not work anyway since I have installed Win Service Pack 2.)One other thing---when I called my ISP ATT Yahoo, I eventually got a senior Techy whom I let into my computer. When he checked the Yahoo and MSN email pages he found every thing in perfect shape, and no loud clicking sounds, etc. Said he thought trouble was in my computer.
Was hoping there would be an easier way to solve this problem. I'll start the search for my lost XP disk Monday---and get back to you all. If I got in touch with the HP people, could they restore the computer from their end, without my disk?
