BHO virus removal

If you have a BHO that is infected with or is a virus/trojan, can't you just remove/delete that file from the downloaded program files folder?

Everything I see says to use Hijack This or a similar program. But why can't you just delete the dang file yourself, assuming of course that it isn't an important file?

Perhaps for the same reason you don't "uninstall" (most) programs by merely deleting them?

WinPatrol
Then disable the BHO using it.

here is comprehensive hijackthis tutorial
do not afraid to use this program. Just be careful when you will try to end processes.

Anyway there are lots of automated tool to remove BHOs.
