BHO Virus - Khfdd.dll

Specs: XP Home SP2, Centrino 1.6GHz, 512Mb

Hi Guys n Dolls,

Anyone know anything about this one?

KHFDD.DLL (a Browser Help Object)

Resides in Win\sys32 folder. cannot kill or delete. Keeps adding itself to reg in CLSID.

Other files (I've found so far) are:

ddfhk.ini
ddfhk.ini2
ddfhk.bak
ddfhk.tmp

Still cant find the file/s that replicate it on boot.

Security software I use:

Zone Alarm free (latest version)
AVG free (bang up to date)
SpyBot
AdAware
Spyware Blaster
Spyware Guard
Ewido
Scan Spyware
GiPo@MoveAtBoot
IE SpyAd and
Hijack This

Have tried everything (?) to remove this critter but its back every time (Spyware Guide brings up a warning - but on removal it sparks off Spyware Guide again - endlessly!)

Of all the anti-virus sites I have visited so far only McAfee free online scan detects it. Only trouble is their only solution is to purchase their software (bit cheap of them if you ask me, we should all be working together at eradicating this menace software and idiots with nothing better to do than cause others misery!!!)

I prob need a bit of help/advice with using Hijack This, but it reports no probs.

Any thoughts would be appreciated,
AND obviously a solution would be better!!!

I eagerly await replies and advice

Yours, for now,

Phil H

Please post a Hijack This log so that the files associated with the virus/spyware/hijacker can be identified.

Please download HJTsetup.exe from this link http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
Doubleclick on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
Continue to click "next" in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the "Select Addition Tasks" dialogue.
Put a check by "Create a desktop icon" then click "Next" again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialogue box click "Finish" and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the "Do a system scan and save a logfile" button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log and post it in this thread.

Do not fix anything yet unless you know what you are doing. This is a powerful tool that can crash the computer if used improperly.

Please download SilentRunners from this link http://www.silentrunners.org/Silent%20Runners.zip. Unzip it to the desktop and double-click on it. If you get any kind of warning message about scripts, please choose to allow the script to run. When the scan is finished, it will create a logfile on the desktop. Please post the entire contents of this logfile in a reply to this post.. Unzip it to the desktop and double-click on it. If you get any kind of warning message about scripts, please choose to allow the script to run. When the scan is finished, it will create a logfile on the desktop. Please post the entire contents of this logfile in a reply to this post.

Hiya Jabuck,

Thanks for the advice.

Have tried removing in regedit before resorting to forums (and deleting ddfhk ini files) but it comes back on re-boot.
There must be another file somewhere.
