NEVER, I REPEAT NEVER use the program BeClean!

BeClean will totally crash your system if you don't run it properly.

Had two computers in friends shop that were wasted by BeClean when the owners clicked on certain tools within the program.

The only way to get the computers back to working state was to do a full reinstall.

The Kid,

Try the Red Lettered items in BeClean, then I'll talk to ya after you have to do a full reinstall.

Sprank,

To be fair, I would have to say that I've seen many system utilities (Norton comes to mind) that trash systems. While I will agree that the current version of BeClean (1.3) has problems, I would not say "never use the program".

Budy, the program author, is currently working to find and resolve the issues that affect some users on WinXP and Win2k. It's difficult to isolate, but one clue we have is a user who ran BeClean on WinXP without issue and then was able to recreate the problem by installing SP1 and running BeClean again.

Currently, BeClean has been removed from download due to the problems, but may still be available from mirror shareware sites.

Once the problems are isolated and a new build is released, we could use some experienced beta testers to make sure these issues don't happen again. If you or anyone you know would like to test future versions, please feel free to post your interest in the BeClean area of the BooZet forums: http://boozet.xepher.net/forums/

BTW: I don't work for BooZet, I'm just a 15 year PC technician who is helping out a good freeware author. :~)-

I wish, I WISH I'd seen this warning before I ran BeClean last night. It has, as you say, totally trashed my computer. All I did was tick the 'clean registry' box - I thought this is what it was for? I am now locked out of my computer and the 80GB of documents and data on it. I am disabled and totally rely on my computer and I am worried sick. Is there any way to recover my data before having Windows (XP) re-installed? Please Help.
