Im currently looking for a new Internet Security Suite, and I would like to know which one you all recommend? I was leaning towards Norton Internet Security, what are your suggestions about it? thanks in advanced.

Oh wow!

You're going to get a variety of opinions about this here on this site! lol.

One common thread you might find is that security suites are HUGE resource hogs. (coupled with vista this probably will not be good)

If you have lots of ram and a fast processor you can get away with it.

This is my only my opinion but you can get much better security for free than any suite can offer.

You just have to combine freeware, one antivirus program with one firewall and as many anti-malware (spyware / adware) programs as you wish to get much better results than you would with a paid for suite.

I have vista ultimate on my machine at home here and I only use vista compatible freeware apps to look after it. I don't use suites and I absolutely refuse to use Norton (ever again).

These were my choices:

Antivirus: Avast! Free for home users

Firewall: Zonealarm Free Firewall

Antispyware / malware programs:

1) SUPERAntispyware

2) Spybot Search And Destroy

3) Adaware

Cleaning Program: Ccleaner

If, by any chance you had norton products preinstalled on your machine it is adviseable to remove them completely before selecting your new protection suite (even if it is another Norton product)

Download and run this tool to clean out any norton remnants:

btk1w1, thaks for the response. Yeah I know there is alot of options out there lol. Just want to get the right one. Well Im running athlon dual core 4800+ with 2gb of ram, and I like suites better, but I dont want them slowing down my computer. And as a matter of fact my computer did come pre installed with norton and I will be using that tool thanks. By the way whats the opinion on nod32? thanks in advanced.

here is my suggestion :

get 'ESET NOD32 anti virus' (not free but not expensive) (!*Don't ever get the smart security thingy*!)

and then get COMODO firewall (it's good and free)

then ,get CCleaner for cleaing.

These are my best guards.

I used norton before and I WILL NEVER USE IT AGAIN!

ESET smart security is worst suite i ever know so far. Just get the anti-virus.

If u want to save money, i suggest you go to COMODO website and download whatever you need.
