Comment: Hello everyone, I am currently using NIS2004 and my Subscription is just about up. I have had enough with Norton and want to get a better, more powerful, less ongoing problems product. I have done some research and found these two products are better, but can’t decide out of the two: -Zone Alarm Security Suite -TrendMicro Internet Security 2005 I need a good firewall and antivirus software that is up to the job. Anyone have any idea on which is the better product? Thankyou for any help give, Michael

Reply: (edit)I would go to ZoneAlarm, but unfortunately I haven't tested it yet. I have tested Trendmicro (TIS2005) for months now, though I'm a bit insecure of its built-in firewall, so I tried Sygate. BTW, I'm only using the antivirus of TIS2005. Expert™

Reply: (edit)I might have agreed with Response # 2 (NAV 2002), except that Symantec will no longer support an application that old. Since you are running Win XP, you know that you do have a built-in software firewall, right? Also, most routers provide built-in hardware firewall support. I have used several free software firewalls, but find that I'm not having any real problems without them. I have read favorable reviews about TrendMicro Internet Security 2005, although I understand the company had some problems this past weekend ... may have been more of a problem for corporate users, though.

Reply: (edit)I have looked around for information on combining both, Zone Alarm Security PRO and TrendMicro Internet Security 2005. And found a few people that have done it, to get the best of both worlds. By what I have found in my research: -Zone Alarm Security PRO (Best firewall) -TrendMicro Internet Security 2005 (best Antivirus) So if anyone else doesn't have anymore suggestions then, I think I will go with: -Zone Alarm Security PRO (firewall) -TrendMicro Internet Security 2005 (Antivirus) Thanks for the replies so far, Michael

Reply: (edit)I would definitely suggest NOD32 from ESET. Still very unknown but very powerfull, very fast AV Tool which wont slow down your computer. Have a look: www.eset.com My firewall recommandation is Sygate professional!!
