Reply: (edit)A high-powered electromagnet and some thermite is the only "really" secure way to destroy data used by computer (remeber to get the ram as well). remember windows is not good for hiding stuff, unencrypted swap files etc, makes it diffult to truly destroy information. These programs just make it alot (if the program does a decent number of sweeps with different algothrims and gets everthing) harder to recover. But if there's a big enough will there is normally a way.

Reply: (edit)Check this out; http://computer.org/security/v1n1/garfinkel.htm Don't even think about Evidence Eliminator; http://radsoft.net/resources/software/reviews/ee/ Have a look at Window Washer perhaps? http://webroot.com I know there are free programs that are similar to WW but I don't know their names.
