Comment: i've been using norton anti-virus since i got my comp but i've neither the cash or credit card to continue my subscription!! since then i've been using antivir but i ran housecall and it found a friggin' virus...so what do you think is the best free antivirus?? is AVG any better??

Reply: (edit)Other than antivir, which you a not satisfied with AVG has a loyal and strong following. There are two other programs that I know about. AVAST has a very decent user rating at the CNET Downloads website. The other is from a new company http:/www.gladiator-antivirus.com. It is available as a download from their website, and I have no idea about user ratings, just that it is free.

Reply: (edit)avg work well for me aswell, i've had one virus/worm and avg caught it and removed it when housecall didn't. IMHO avg is the sensible choice for the AVeraGE surfer!
