What is the less problem creating and less
resources using combination of Antivirus and Firewall? In my experience, using Zone Alarm
and Norton together is creating problems and
I prefer not to have them than their protection.
I currently use AVG and NO firewall.
I'm looking for one and saw CAPT saying
things I liked aboutKerio.
http://www.computing.net/security/wwwboard/forum/1589.html
"Kerio has an excellent reputation from its users. It is small, and uses very little system resources. It is a rule based system, so it has great flexibility if you know what you are doing. It is easy to uninstall, no lingering after effects with files all over the place should you not like it."
Does anybody have the two of them working for some time (conflicts, resources)?

Edsod, I use the new Zone Alarm Plus, it is installed on two of my computers. One has XP(Pentium4, 526RAM), and I use Norton 2002 and ZA. There are no problems with the new Zone Alarm. The other computer has 98se(Pentium Pro 128RAM), and it has Zone Alarm's Plus and eTrust antivirus on it. I have used Sygate, and have installed it on several friends computers when XP first came out. ZA caused us several problems, as did the Norton Firewall, which was even worse. I had no real reason to change from Sygate back to Zone Alarm Plus. Sygate works very nice, and is a very nice firewall. If I was into heavy on-line gaming like my kids, I would still be using Sygate. Sygate works great with Norton 2002 and 2001, and Trend's PC-cillian. I have also installed Outpost on a couple of friends computers that wanted the ad blocking feature that Outpost has in the free version, both use Norton Antivirus with no problems. Like I said before the people that use Kerio like it. Check out FLANK PC and the VIRUS BULLETIN website for more detailed information about firewalls and antivirus programs. All the best and take care!

YOUR BEST BET IS TO USE AVG AND KERIO....
THIS IS WHAT I AM USING AND WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. KERIO DOESN'T USE HAEDLY ANY OF YOUR SYSTEMS RESOURCES,UNLIKE ZONEALARM & SYGATE.
ZONEALARM WILL TAKE UP TO 10 TO 15% UP OF YOUR SYSTEMS RESOURCES,I TRIED THE NEW ZONEALARM AND MY SYSTEMS RESOURCES DROPPED FROM 85% DOWN TO
65% AFTER STARTUP. I AM USING KERIO NOW AND AFTER STARTUP MY RESOURCES IS AT 83%..ALSO IF
YOU EVER WANTED TO (TRY) AND GET RID OF ZONEALARM GOOD LUCK.

I'm using McAfee VirusScan and Firewall with no problems. Both are unobtrusive and use minimal resources.

The last time I checked, AVG knew 8,000 viruses. When you consider than RAV know 80,000, thats almost 10 times more. AVG doesn't look that good.

Man you don't know what you are talking about.
AVG is comming out with updates at least now once a week,You better check into the other AV
programs and see how often they are updated.
I have used all of the other AV programs and I
will say this,AVG is far better than all the rest. I have never pick up anything while using AVG,Not like Norton or Macfee... And where are you get these So call facts at ??????????
