Iam using Norton Anti virus software..It is so much good but the problem is that it comsume lot of my system resources.
some one say that use Macfee Anti virus software .It consume less ram as compaired to Norton...? Forther there is another Free anti virus software AVG from www.grisoft.com .How is this anti virus softwre? Is it tolally free for the user or it will be expire anfter 30 days tryal...??
Please guide me which should i chose..thanks in advance..

AVG Free Edition will stay free, there is no expiration on it. As for how good it is, I use it at home (4 computers) and on all the computers here at work. We recommend it to our customers and install it for them, free of charge, if they request it. I've never had a problem with it, and as long as it's kept updated (I set mine to check every day) you shouldn't have a problem with it eaither.

Is Norton actually causing you a problem with its resource use, or is it an observation? If I were to switch from Norton, because it was causing a lockups, slow system performance and gaming resource problems, my choices would be; ESET'S NOD32, srnmicro's SOLO, Computer Associates ETRUST 6.1.4.0 and GRISOFT's AVG 6.0.

when i tried mcafee it used more resources, and a scan took probably 5 times longer then norton. but the downloadable version now requires activation.

Hello Gardenair,
There is no Best anti virus software avalaible in the world, you have only programs whic complies to your wish, and as long as you are satisfied, you can consider you have a good program.
That's why I suggest often to try differents programs before to choose one....

I have always relied on NORTON and have never been disappointed.
I would suggest a paid product that has very regular updates, likely every few days or daily and has a good history and is widely used in the industry with good tech support and a forum for self help available somewhere on the web.
A good place to read:

I would try AVG,It is real good and the updates are better than some of the others.. AVG has never let anything come in on my computer,Not like some of ther other AVs... just give it a try,and I think You will like it... also It is Free...
