Hi there, For several weeks now browsing has been very slow. It takes up to a minute to open a page or often enough I get the "page cannot be displayed" message. Even my emails cannot be shown sometimes. Some days are worse than others. I had a few days when no pages worked at all - rebooting the DSL modem or restarting the computer didn't help. The only solution then is to restore the computer to an earlier point. Interestingly Skype always remains intact. However sometimes I see it dropping out and then recovering. AVG scans show that everything is well. I am at my wits end and ready to throw the computer out of the window. Hope for some help from somewhere out there. Would a HJT log help?

Do you have any cleaning software ? Get ccleaner, and Abexo Reg cleaner. This will help allot..They are both free,,next is to go to speakeasy.net and run a speed test. Also would check for Trojans, get trojan remover and test.

If you have some sort of nasty on there it is possible that it has disabled AVG updates.

Follow this procedure and you will probably see a big difference in your computers performance and internet speed. It worked great for me. Do EXACTLY what it says. It took me about 5 hours but it was worth it. Run AVG when you are through.

Have I missed something - I can't see "a procedure" in your post?
