One of my coworkers infected his computer with the Klez virus. I found this out by accident. I was looking at the root of the F: drive (we have a Novell Server for our file and print server and the sys volume is mapped to F:) and found quite a few .rar files. I used a Klez removal tool and cleaned off his computer and deleted most of the files off the F: drive.

My big concern now is the backup. I have a workstation running Backup Exec at night to remotely back up the F: drive. If there are any of these Klez infected files left on the F: drive (.rar, .scr, .exe, etc.), will these be activated (executed) by the back up process. I always thought that backing up files opens them. Will this in some way reinfect my workstations, or worse yet, damage the Novell Server?

Please help.

Thanks!
