I have recently installed norton internet security 2002 to take the place of zone alarm. I have the firewall and NAV2002 running up to date with and with auto-protect enabled at all times. About a couple of weeks ago, the firewall blocked an attempted attack from a remote computer using the backdoor/subseven trojan. I may be wrong, but from what i heard, the subseven trojan needs to have a sort-of server file installed in your computer first before being able to alter anything in your computer. The only problem is that NAV doesn't detect anything with auto-protect or when i scan my computer. I have also tried to manually remove the trojan with the instructions for all of th different versions, but i couldn't find anything. I have a 1ghz p3 255mb pc100 sdram and an ADSL connection with a dynamic IP, which makes things even stranger.
~gracias~

Are you confusing an active attack with a net scanner looking for possibly infected machines?
Firewalls will report the scan and/or that the attempted probe was blocked, but that doesn't mean your machine is infected, only that someone's machine is auto-scanning the net for available subseven, or other trojans.

If you're really concerned, go to pcflank.com and run the trojan test.
Take some time while there to read up on what a firewall does and doesn't do.

I have recently recieved an email from a so called Hacker.
Telling me what a great computer I have now, s---s all over my last one.
He said he can do what he wants when he wants, because he placed a Sub7 virus on my Comp. He said I can format but he will find a way through again. I have NAV 2002 which has found nothing, I downloaded Sygate firewall and also did the test, with clean results. I then downloaded Cleaner 3.2 which
said free of trojans. Could this be fake or could I have something?
I have searched every entire folder on my computer, it is just strange how he knew I have just changed server name and username in the past week, and thats when I got his or hers email, being smart about it. I have only had my new computer since Feb.
P4B266 Asus 2.0 , 40 gig 256mb
Can anyone explain if I may have a Trojan or not. SHAZ
