Hi
got a question on behalf of someone else,
running windows 2000 pro and AVG free edition and recently while using the search tool to find a .bmp file just recently sent to via msn (from a trusted source and it was infact a picture)
AVG suddenly poped up saying virus Trojan horse backdoor.litmus is found in file c:\test.exe
This was about 8 mins since connecting to the net. And the previous day, AVG was updated and done a full scan and no1 touched the computer since then.
was just wondering how AVG could have missed the file? or could something have downloaded it in the backgound? got zonealarm running and the only programs allowed to access the net are listed below
cheeta, chat, icq, msn, HTML applic, word, mirc, outloook express, SOF, services controller apps, SAH Downloader, Y tunnel
thanks

Hello Tom,
You don't have to be surprised, problem with trojan's is that you can get it when for exemple you run a web site and download a pic from it, part of the file is the pic itself when hidden the second part is the trojan.. your AVG did a good detection from the memory location, what you have to do now is to erase it as soon as possible.
AVG can do it of course without problem, but I suggest always to use a specific program made to eradicate easily any trojan's corrupting a computer.
This program is Trojan Remover, this is a complete updated freeware for one month, then a shareware if satisfied for unlimited signatures and database updates.
Anyway you can use it right now to rid off this betrayal, the program do that automatically without any manual intervention.
Trojan Remover download:

AVG has found a Virus, its in the system root under a hidden directory called system_restore proceeded by a series of numbers and can not be found!!
What do you do when the trojan is in a restore file hidden deep into the system???Does that mean a Hacker can still compromise my system?
