Specs: Windows XP
this is urgent!! i cannot find any sites that will help me get rid of this annoying trojan. a security center alert keeps popping up reading that win32.backdoor-dnm is a worm trojan that records keystrokes. then when i open up firefox it tells me to install some security software which i know can't be trusted. when i surf the net, the browser always exits by itself/spontaneously.

I got the same virus on 2-27-09. Run an AVG full scan and then so a system restore to a point before 2-27-09. This worked for me...

same virus hit me from son clicking .exe from facebook last night. startup in safe mode, run msconfig, (file causes msconfig to reboot pc if running in normal mode), search for unusual entry in startup tab (mine was wcwdu168.exe or something close), enable all in startup except that one, do a search my computer using the first few letter of that .exe, you'll probably find it in application data folder in your profile(hidden folder), delete the file, do a regedit, search for the first few letters of that entry, delete the entry that shows under realteck or something similar (dont delete the recent search entry), and you'll also find the executable in the windows prefetch directory, delete that also, reboot, everything will be fine

1. Double Click tool.exe to install the application.
2. Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
3. If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
4. Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan. The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
5. When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
6. Make sure that everything found is checked, and click Remove Selected.
7. When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

If Malwarebytes installed but will not run navigate to this folder:

I had the same trouble with the Win32.Back Door-DNM. Kept trying to send me to a software site. My solution after 6 hrs. of frustration was to do a system restore to before I had the trouble. Luckily I knew exactly when I got it . I restored to 2 days before, and it was gone.
