I picked up a MB that has the Award BootBlock Bios V1.0. So how do I get into the bios. The board will only boot half of the time, when it does it says Cmos Check Sum error, will boot to floppy. So does this need a security floppy disk to enter the bios and were do I find one ????

Nada, It is a box with the MB and a floppy. Thats all. No key combo responds. It starts with a bios check sum error, then detects the floppy type and then looks for a boot disk. It will boot on a floppy and give a dir. but that is it. Can not get to bios setup. Pulled the battery, discharged the bios by jumper but still no access. So what is this thing, a special bios patch that requires a key disk ?? And if so, how do I kill the bios that does not respond to the cmos jumper drain. ????

Try putting a new battery in the motherboard. Because the recent start-up date/time is older than the last shut down date/time you get a check sum error. DA!

Response Number 8 is true.

The reason for this message is a BIOS that has been corrupted either due to flashing with incorrect version or attack by virus.

As the bootblock section of the BIOS obviously still works, it should be possible to flash it with usual procedure.
