Comment: Ok when i open Windows Explorer to check my pictures this time i had a problem.. I saw the icons are not seems right because i saw a white and have a windows logo on it. I think that icon is for the programs that cant find. So i doubled click it, but a new window shown on my screen, it's say "Program Not Found.....Windows cannot find AVI.exe. Where can i find that AVI.exe thing? Is that a driver? I assume that file was corrupted, but when i scan my computer with Norton AntiVirus it doesn't say if i had a virus. Can someone help me in this situation because i have a big project and i need pictures, but i can't work properly because of that. Help me plz....... P.S Oh by the way I try to open MSPAINT and then open the picture file that i want, the picture show on my screen...I dont understand that?

Reply: (edit)"The AVI.EXE converts an AVI movie into a "raw" sound file ie. a WAV file without a header." I found that on google. It won't help you restore your file, but it tells you what the file does. What version of windows do you have? Charger

Reply: (edit)A file that ends in .exe is a program. Drivers would generally end in .vxd. Is the file extension on the ones you are trying to open .jpg or .bmp? As Charger says, it sounds like you are trying to open a movie, not just a photo. Can you give us some more specifics?

That's what completely it say, and the new window wants me also to "Locate of AVI.exe".. Yes, when i look on my folder that contain MPEG file too (Music Videos,Game Trailers etc), i saw the same icon again (white with windows logo on it). And i try to double click it, but same thing on my pictures., It says..
"Program not Found" This program is needed for opening files of type 'MPEG files'. Then, the new window also want me too locate AVI.exe. My pictures files have extenson of .jpg, .bmp, .gif on it.

Reply: (edit)When you opened your pictures before, what program did they open in? Like what do you normally use to view pictures? It looks like whatever program you had (avi.exe) is corrupted or been deleted.

Reply: (edit)I'm just guessing but it sounds like it could be a file association problem, like whatever you have set to open certain files may not be correct, like the one you mention "Program Not Found.....Windows cannot find AVI.exe. I would take that to mean that you have that picture to be opened by "AVI.exe. Here are instructions from Windows 98 Help, I do not know if they are different for Windows 95 To change which program starts when you open a file In My Computer or Windows Explorer, on the View menu, click Folder Options. Click the File Types tab. In the list of file types, click the one you want to change. Click Edit. In Actions, click Open. Click Edit. In Application used to perform action, enter the program you want to use to open files that have this extension, and then click OK. Note The settings for selected file types are shown in File type details. You might want to go to Start/Help, they type in Associating File Type With Programs so make sure the instructions are the same for Windows 95 What are the file extensions to your pictures, if they are .jpg, .gif, .bmp usually your browser [Internet Explorer/Netscape/Opera] will open them so you might try changing them to that, if they are not .jpg, .gif or .bmp post back with the file extension & maybe we can help find what will open them for you so you can change the file association Good luck

Reply: (edit)***** Thank you for the response to my problem. Ok, i try to do what u want me to do, but in the part that you say.. "Click the File Types tab. In the list of file types, click the one you want to change." Im not sure what am i gonna choose. Is it the bmp, jpeg, or .gif? If thats what u mean, i didn't see any of that from the options. Do u have aim (aol) or msn messenger? If you have can you give it to me, so we can talk more nicely and i can follow your direction correctly. Reply: (edit)First look for 'Bitmap'. Follow the instructions above. Then go back to the list again and look for 'GIF Image'. Do the same. Then go back and look for 'JPEG Image'. Same again. After you click on Edit, you will see a button that says 'Default'. Click on that and it should return it to where it was suppose to be. It's easier that way than trying to choose the program yourself with which to associate it. The file name for Paint, for instance is rather cryptic.

Reply: (edit)I would do this: go to www.tucows.com Do a search for Photo Editors. I prefer ACDSee myself. Download the program you want to use, and then install it. When you install the software, it will prompt you for which files you want to associate with that program.

Reply: (edit)It doesn't matter what you set to open your files as long as it's a program capable of opening them, I have several graphic programs but just let Netscape open my .jpg's, .gif's & .bmp's since I already have it open. If you use Internet Explorer you can use it to open them if you like. If you'd rather go download a graphic program to open them that's still another option Good luck

Reply: (edit)You are not looking for an icon. To repeat the instructions from DW above: "In My Computer or Windows Explorer, on the View menu, click Folder Options. Click the File Types tab. In the list of file types, click the one you want to change" Are you looking in the right place??? Where do you plan to get this AVI.exe file? I thought you lost it??

Reply: (edit)Don't think of an .exe as a file. It's actually a program. If you can't find it on the net, just use one of the other picture viewer programs listed above. If you can't see any picture files where we told you, I think something is messed up. You may have to re-install Windows. Just putting it overtop may work. You may not have to do a total re-install. Let us know if you need help.
