Hi,

A friend of mine who works in IT has told me that F-Secure antivirus is better than AVG, i was wondering what your opinion of this is? i have used AVG for many years and have had no problems so far, but as i build computers for friends and family i want to be able to put the best software on it for them so that they are safe.

if anyone here can give me there opinion and recommendation that would be excellent.

Thanks,

You are better off with something you can vouch for after years of personal use.

is F-Secure antivirus free? Does it automatically update online? Does it have real time protection as you surf?
All I know, is that Avast Free does all the above and I've used it for many yrs now (ever since yrs back when AVG had problems up-dating) and have never looked back.
Avast and Comodo Pro free firewall have been a great combo for me.

I refer many downloads to the majorgeeks site because they are usually more up-dated than other sites.
Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results as it will help others.

well i suppose your right after years of experience with AVG and with no problems why am i looking at other softwares.. AVG does auto update, does protect while you surf and is free. I was only asking as my friend whose computer i just built was tampered with by someone else and they decided to remove AVG and ZoneAlarm and put f-secure on it, and well they wanted a 'professional' opionion before they removed it and well these guys on this forum seem to have vast experience in all areas so i decided to ask here.

Thanks for you responses.

sorry AlwaysWillingToLearn, I remember that I had to schedule updates and scans on AVG....is that changed now? Also, it never had real-time protection back when I had it.
Is that changed too? What I mean is that it notifies you immediately as you are surfing that there is a virus lurking ahead of you?
