Recently I installed AVG 7.5 on my friends computer. My friend has Windows 98 and 7.5 is the latest version that supports it. Every so often a dialog box comes asking if you want to update AVG 7.5? Is this message legit? My friend says he clicked Yes and now his computer is running slower. Anyone heard of a virus masquerading as an AVG update? Thank you.

The computer has 64 megs of RAM. He's going to upgrade to 128 megs of RAM, which is the max the computer can take. The computer is a Compaq Presario 510N. If I'm not mistaken, I think it's a 400Mhz processor.

That's an ancient rig lol try to uninstall avg. Wasn't 7 the version that crashed on updates? Clamwin might be better for that rig

Btw didn't mean to sound insulting. I have older rigs around. Clamwin uses very few resources which makes it great for older rigs
