Once AVG has completely scanned your PC and found the viruses, a dialog box should appear, giving you the option to move the viruses to the vault. To delete the viruses from the vault, click on Program > AVG Virus Vault > select the viruses you wish to delete, then click Delete.

The problem is that since you have Win Xp (or Me) these bugs can hide in your system restore function files. When you go to move them ot the vault, if it gives you an refusal and says the files cannot be moved, they should identify them as system restore files.

If that happens do this:

http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2001012513122239?Open&src=sec_doc_nam&docid=2001111912274039&nsf=tsgeninfo.nsf&view=docid&dtype=&prod=&ver=&osv=&osv_lvl

and do not re-enable them until your machine is clean. to check for trojans (use in order):

Trojan Hunter trial version:

http://www.misec.net/

Trojan Scan:
http://www.windowsecurity.com/trojanscan/

SWATIT:

http://swatit.org/download.html

If AVG moves them to the vault then you have to go to the vault and (make back-ups) and delete the files in the vault.

I use LeakTest, UnplugnPray, DCOMbobulator, and ShieldsUp
