Yes, I know quite a few people who consistently have update problems with AVG.
Too bad, but as a free product, that's where the $$$ FREE price rears its ugly head, in the product/service being not as good as a paid product. How can it be?
The people I knew all just waited and then later it worked, but that's not much of an answer, since you will miss updates, thus increasing your risk infection.
Most of them by now have replaced AVG with NORTON or MCAFEE, as the cost is not high at all.And as far as I know, there is no option to manually update AVG, like Norton has in the Intelligent Updater.

I had a problem getting/downloading it at first...would get 346kb,then it would stop.Just try back a lil' later,you should be fine,as I was when I did.
*This is the first time I can remember ever having a "problem" with AVG's update feature.

You can manualy update AVG. Go to there web site You should see some were that says updates on the front page. Click that and then you should choose the right version you have. Make sure you get the right one, there is one for the free version. Then download the bin file. Go to you programs and find the grisoft folder then AVG then updates and place it in that folder. Next start avg and you should see it updating. when it is finished close avg then go back to the updates folder and delete the older versions of the .bin file but make sure you leave the newst one there. Good Luck RSG. And right now after all that there web site is down, lol

Thanks for all the replies.
I just tried the update and it worked fine.
I might mention that I got AVG because of the nightmare which Norton Liveupdate caused. We paid for 2003 Anti-Virus, it caused chaos, never got loaded properly, never worked, and Norton support was abysmal. They got the $$ this year, but never again.

Norton and McAfee maybe better at detection of viruses but many times create huge problems.
AVG is by far the one that creates less problems (no that you can't encounter one from time to time).

And dont forget under the pallidum, those free programs are gona be in a lot of legal trouble.... and the ones you pay for are going to be more and more annoying to use.
