Specs: Windows XP
AVG gave me a trojan alert:
Windows/system32/msihdlplae.dll and removed it from my system. Now nothing will start. I can start windows sometimes but I can't use system restore. Nothing will start and I keep getting the message: program won't start because msihdlplae.dll is missing. I tried restoring it from the Virus vault, doesn't help. I have two other computers running XP neither one has that file.

if you can't find the file, it is obviously a trojan of some sort and when it was removed from system 32 it caused problems, restoring it didn't help matters either as it became active again.

Run some scans with updated malwarebytes, super anti-spy and try avast free and allow it to do a bootscan and move all it finds to the chest.

See if that removes the problem.

Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers
