In AVG do you have to keep all the .bin files in the update folder once it has been upgraded or can you get rid of everything except maybe the last one . I know these updates are incremental now and I just wonder if you can still get rid of them like you used to without a problem .

It spots Byte verifer every time I get it loaded on my comp. in realtime. I just over- write virus then and there and keep going.
PS So does McAfee
That's when cool-web gets into your system.

I wouldn't say it sucks, maybe it isn't the best you can get, but most use the free version so they can't complain. I haven't had trouble with it, though I've only had 1 virus before I started getting very serious about security, and it caught it.

I will say that I also do online scans, just to make sure. But I would do this regardless of the antivirus product I used. As to the original post, if you used to be able to, it probably hasn't changed. But, I do not know this. I usually leave well enough alone unless I know for sure something can be done.

I don't think a browser has anything to do with it. Another browser won't keep you virus-free.

Yes you can delete the old bin files once you have upgraded and restarted avg to make sure the upgrade took. Some were in there faq when I looked about year and a half ago it was there that they actually recommend removing the old ones. MAKE SURE you leave the newest one!!. Good luck RSG
