I was wondering what exactly is the update file number that I need to download for the AVG Free Edition for March 3, 04? They show 3 of them on their website but I'm not sure which one I have to download and also I was wondering if I can delete older updates and where would they be located on my computer?

If you are talking about an Update to the (free) AVG Progran itself - as distinct from the periodic 'virus defintions' updates...

...then bring up the Control Centre and look on the Information Tab - there you'll see Version Number - in the form 6.0.xxx...

...write that down and then there is information and instructions at the Site...

..can't help any further than that because I can't get to the Site at the moment for some reason

I think you can get rid of anything except the very latest bin file . I would download the one at the top . The autoupdate doesn't seem to be working very well the last 2-3 days . anyone else seeing this .

Yes, I noticed that I couldnt update for AVG for like 3 or 4 days (thought I was doing something wrong) but yesterday I tried and for some unknown reason it worked! I checked Adware and got a new update for Ad-Aware also. Seems like the Ad-Aware updaers are almost daily now :)

The site's servers seem to be tied up a bit. It's kinda either a hit or miss that you'll successfully connect while attempting an update. I just connected and updated a few minutes ago (5pm pacific time).

Keep trying, or go to the website itself for the download (u610j654.bin for AVG free version). :-)

MY AVG auto-update has worked almost flawlessly...a couple of "can't connect" messages,but a few minutes later...got it w/no problem.

I don't see whats the right update to download for the free edition yet. I haven't updated my AVG since Feb. 26 and I don't know exactly what files I need to update.

Dear Angela,

-Why don't just use the Automatic Update (AU) feature? It is the easiest way because AVG will decide the update itself.

-If you have problem using AU, check the guidelines below :

(1) Please check your AVG folder (default at C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG6) for a file named URL.INI with following content :-

[SERVER_NAME]
1=free.grisoft.cz

[SERVER_URL]
1=http://free.grisoft.cz/softw/60/fe
Actual URL=1

(2) Change it to :

[SERVER_NAME]
1=www.grisoft.com

[SERVER_URL]
1=http://www.grisoft.com/softw/60/fe
Actual URL=1

(3) I have tested this and it worked. I think the free.grisoft.cz server has a problem accepting DSL connection (maybe just for a while). Don't forget to backup the URL.INI file first!

Good luck!
