Comment:

I had bought AVG 7.5 and had it installed and it worked well. I was then offered an upgrade to version 8.0 which I promptly accepted. Problem is that the Update Manager does not update! The message underneath it says: DATABASE UPDATE IS DISABLED. Many request for an answer on AVG's webpage resulted in no reply. It seems I have upgraded from a program I had bought to one that is FREEE! and that looks to be the reason why the update manager is disabled. Any suggestions please.

When was the last time you did something for the first time?

You will probably need to remove this, and then reinstall 7.5 again. Do NOT upgrade unless you've read and re-read all the fine print!

I've done this also by not paying attention to the site I get directed to, and is not a good security practise (slap my wrist!).
