Comment:

I normally have the AVG plug in for Outlook Express enabled but today Outlook Express was hanging (wouldn't open - and was using 100% resources), (no spyware, no virus). I unchecked the AVG plugin, and it opens fine.

I tried rechecking the plug in option and then OE hangs again.

I never had this problem before and I've always had the plug in enabled.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks.

Have you checked your firewall? If the firewall settings have not changed, perhaps there was an AVG update that has caused a glitch/conflict. I would uninstall AVG and reinstall it with Grisoft's latest version to see if that corrects the problem. Take care and all the best!

capt, I think you were right. I uninstalled AVG and went to download it again but grisoft is updating their web pages and I was unable to download it. Then I remembered in ZA Pro there is email protection - when I went and looked at that, the email protection was checked, and I remembered checking it a couple of days ago. I had restarted my computer just before OE started hanging and I think the ZAP setting caused a conflict with AVG and that's why it hung. So turning off the IE plug in, ended the conflict. I never had the ZAP email protection enabled until a couple days ago and now I remember that I read somewhere not to have both AVG plug in and ZAP email protection enabled at the same time.

When I can re-install AVG, I will test this but I think that's what caused the problem.

Thanks for your reply - it led me to the cause of the problem.

Don't forget that when you put the Check in for the OE plugin you must have OE closed at the time

You probably know that but just in case!

AVG Plugin and ZA Pro causing conflicting each others, I suggest turn off the ZA Pro MailSafe settings.

AVG Plugin works just fine without ZA Pro MailSafe settings.
