I just collected my email, and I got an error message to the effect that an "AVG general plug-in failure" had occurred, or words to that effect. (I wish I'd written it down.) There was spam, and real mail in the box. Nothing weird has occurred. I've not seen this message before.

Are you referring to the Outlook Express 5 plug-in option in AVG?
The plug-in failure happened once on my brother's PC but, after he rebooted, it never happened again. To me, that was simply indicative that the AVG software didn't load properly at the boot.
Reboot a few times and see if that takes care of it. If not, you can always reinstall AVG. Since it's free, the price is right. 8-)

You have to update AVG (like Spybot and Adaware) about every three days.

This is a regular issue when dealing with outlook instead of outlook express. For this to work properly with outlook you must run the detect and repair option in Outlook. Make sure you have the CD handy or the data.msi file loaded on your computer. The reason is a driver missing that is not installed with office. once the detect and repair has completed Outlook will open with no error message. If you are dealing with Outlook Express then simply reinstall AVG. If anyone has any recurring issues on this, email me the details and I will see what can be done. Dickiedee
