Subject: AVG -not to load at startup?
Comment:

I was not sure how to configure AVG not to load at start up, Inaculatit was clear it said ck to load at start up or disable, as I remember, I downloaded AVG, works great but just was not sure so I disabled it in msconfig not to start so I can start it once a week when updating and checking for virus's, Is this what I should do or is their a better way. Sue Love the Forum for security and virus, its great, seperates it from the other one.

If you have it running on startup it will check your mail as you receive it.

But its really up to you how you use it.

My email is protected thru Hot Mail, I have it configured for all my mail to be recieved thru their, even though it does not say @hotmail.com, so unless I am wrong? their should be no danger that way & when I download a program I always check it and delete my cookies before I close down and History and have zone alarm in high gear, so I think I am alright that way, after all I use to run Nortons all the time, I had crashes slowdowns and Yes I caught a virus with emil protection thru them and had a heck of a time ended up having to reinstall everything when I was running W98se, so I did not renew when my service was up also had the Internet Securiy, which kept me from going to a lot of web sites, The Virus Protection mainley for files I download and piece of mind, if I am wrong about all this, I sure would like to know, you see I have a old computer 1996 so my computer is not suppose to be all that fast, but with zone alarm running all the time and my AntiVirus check as I do above, seems to not bother my speed. Sue, Read response # 2 and then read it again, its the best advice you can have. Some of the new two step viruses are quite nasty. AVG is good stuff. It works as I have put it through a few real tests with real code.
