AVG mini drivers don't uninstall

April 10, 2011 at 07:20:20
Specs: Macintosh
I uninstalled AVG 2011 from my pc running Windows XP. I have checked in the add and remove for any AVG programs and there are none. I deleted the AVG folder from the Programs folder, but now I have mini drivers left that are preventing me from going on line(am using a borrowed computer to ask for help) so I can't reinstall AVG 20011 free trail version to try to uninstall again. When I try to uninstall them in the Device Manager I get the message that they are needed during the startup.
I called AVG customers service and they said that they were very familiar with the problem of the drivers left after an uninstall and would be happy to help me for a fee of no less the $49.95 or more. I can't believe I was thinking of buying software from such a company!
I really need help! Kathy

Kathy, AVG has a removal utility for their software, there is a separate download utility for 32bit or 64 bit so know which one you need first.

here is the link, I have used them without issue and success.

They really aren't a bad company, but I think when stuff does not work or install as desired it's very frustrating. I use Avast free version.

I wish I could go on line to get the program, but the mini drivers are preventing me from getting online using my pc. Do you know how to remove the mini drivers the I can see in the Device Manager?

download it for free on another PC, then put it on a thumbdrive or burn it on a CD and transfer it to the problem PC

Forget bestbuy, they'll rip you off.

hi kathy,
i had a similar problem and here's what worked for me.

Control panel>network connections>double click on wireless network connection and then click properties or right click and hit properties.
under GENERAL you'll find various checked boxes...just uncheck the AVG NETWORK FILTER DRIVER BOX AND CLICK OK and voila you're free to surf the net again!!!
Do similar unchecking to the local area connection too!!
hope it helps!!!
