There is some confusion over this

Grisoft will no longer Support Free AVG Version 7.1 after Jan 07

However - you can Download now the new Free AVG Version 7.5 from Grisoft' Site...

AVG anti-virus will remain free with a catch. Quoted:

A spokesman for GRISoft confirmed that the firm had no plans to ditch its line of free software, while stressing users would enjoy improved support with the paid-for version of the software.

"Users should be presented with a dialogue which explains their options," a GRISoft spokesman said. He conceded that, judging by the handful of responses we've received, this dialogue box was perhaps not as clear as it might have been.

XpUser,

What's the catch?

The situation is no different, Free version / Paid for version

It's not that I can't remember things as I get older, it's just that my hard drive's full.

Not really. I just wanted to point out what you will get if you use the paidware version. Other than that the AV functionality is the same.

Apparently it no longer works with win98. Does anyone have a suggestion for an alternative.
