Comment: Anyone tried the integrated firewall for AVG yet, and if they have, is it any good? D4Dog "beauty is in the eye of the beer-holder"

Reply: (edit)I didn't know AVG did a firewall. However, if it is as good as there Anti Virus it should be quite good. I am on the look out for a new firewall as the Zone alarm that I have been using is beginning to get a bit bloated. I'll give it a whirl and see how it goes. Stuart

Reply: (edit)I only know that it is not free, I believe it is a two year license that you can use for several machines though. I have not seen any tests or reviews for it. I did not try the AVG firewall beta version to see what their firewall is like.

Reply: (edit)Tried it - didn't like it. I had problems with it. Every time I tried to go into the configuration it told me that there was a problem and the firewall was not enabled. Yet in another place it told me that it was. Doesn't inspire a lot of confidence. I'll stick with AVG Free and Sygate PF for the the moment. Stuart

Reply: (edit)I'm using the same set up at the moment Stuart. It says that it is Kerio that AVG are using and I have had heaps of hassles with it in the past. I just wondered wether it was a special version designed to integrate specifically with AVG and if it was did it work better than Kerio does on it's own D4Dog "beauty is in the eye of the beer-holder"

Reply: (edit)Possibly. I have never used Kerio so I don't really know. It does seem though that combined Anti Virus and Firewall application do have their problems. I had problems with the Zone Alarm Security suit which has Firewall and Anti-Virus combined although the Firewall worked fine by itself. Stuart
