Subject: AVG - Detection ?OS: XP Home+SP1CPU/Ram: AMD1.3GHz\768Mb |
Comment: I have a friend with the following - XP Home+SP1 - Outlook Express 6.0 - AVG 6.0 (Free) with Mail Scan Enabled and OE Plugin Enabled Every so often when she goes to Delete Messages from Deleted Items - she gets an AVG Virus Alert and infected Files are sent to the Vault What I'm not understanding is - why is the Virus\Worm not detected as it arrives ? I understand these Alerts usually refer to the Netsky Worm Associated question - some Viral Atrachments eg some Netsky variants - have a .zip extension - does this indicate a truly Compressed File or is it just a misleading misnomer? Thanks

Reply: (edit)I cant answer the avg question, there are much better AV programs around for free. The second question is yes, a lot of the time they are real zip files. People are stupid enough to still unzip and run them. for free trojan and virus help http://www.anti-trojan.org
