I just downloaded and installed the newest update for AVG 6.0 free edition and now it says my database is out of date. I checked to see what number it is and it's 306 which is the newest one. What's going on? Is it still giving full protection?

Did you run the update utility from within AVG itself or download the update manually? If you did it manually, try through AVG itself... or... vice versa if you did the update through AVG. Occasionally updates don't quite take... or sometimes require a restart. So you can try that as well.
