Right now I would say the best free firewall and antivirus is from Computer Assocaites. You get to the link by doing a Windows Update, you will see the three steps on how to protect your pc. Use the link and you can get a free one year trial of EZArmor, which includes ETrust antivirus and the firewall is version 3.7 of Zone Alarm pro. There is another free antivirus called Avast that many people like as it is full featured, gets updated regularly and even has support by using email. You might want to check it out. There is no doubt that AVG is the most popular free antivirus program.

I certainly would call them 'popular choices for free software', and not full of spyware and other nasties, but to say they are the best, well that would be a lie.

The best personal firewall on the market: Tiny Personal Firewall.

The best personal Anti-Virus software on the market: Nortons AV 2004.

Almost nothing has gotten past this pairing and for less than $150.00 I consider it money well spent.

Considering a clean up can run you $200.00 (including some tools to prevent reinfection) easy, and look at the grey hairs I saved!!

AVG has been real good to me and Kerio 2.1.5 was OK until I got XP. Now on my XP puter it's AVG and Zone Alarm Free Edition. Have a look at the link below......

But guys....compare the test results of each of these tools against each other.

The results speak for themselves.

http://grc.com/lt/leaktest.htm

And compare the results. TPF has 100% success against all attack vectors including p0f.

None of the others can make that claim.

So whos the best?
