i am trying to install mcafee.my computer says i have avg anti-virus 7.1 still installed.i have uninstalled it and searched all of my files and deleted all of it. mcafee still says it is still there but i can not find it. please help.

puzzles me why you would want McAfee? Anyhow, have you used the uninstaller from the avg site to make sure all of avg is removed? That should help you. Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers

Open Task manager and look for file\s that start avg and end process , navigate to c:\program files\Avg and delete the files and the the folder . This is not a perfect solution but to use the AVG uninstaller you would need to put Avg 7 back on again and then uninstall , to remove all the reg entries . I am equally mystified as to why you should want McAfee , Anything is better .
