Is it me or what?
I guess there's a new policy about updates for AVG 6.0 free. Before introduction of AVG 7.0 you could manualy download a new update from the site, put it the update dir. of AVG and AVG updated itself when started.
The update that now gets presented has no effect when copied to the update-dir. I've noticed that the update file is 1/3 smaller than before and when using the update feature from within AVG a whole other update file gets downloaded?
But update directions are as before on the site?
I found it handy to download any update only once, so i could copy it to our second pc (with another AVG free license),a computer with no internetconnection.

After a good night sleep.
When using the update feature from within AVG 6.0 free: sinds update 497 the updates seem to be splitted in 2 parts. Update 497 came with d600ppxe.bin + d602ymib.bin.
If i take these 2 files to my second computer AVG updates fine to update 497.
The update control file with extension .ctf is unneeded and must not be copied it seems.
For the next update (498) only the second bin-file was downloaded and d600ppxe.bin was unchanged. A copy of the new bin-file to my second computer was enough to make the update to 498.
Conclusion: for backup reasons or whatever...keep an eye on the bin-files in de update directory if you use the update service in AVG 6.0...the only way for the moment it seems?

Confusion!
Now update 498 for AVG 6.0 free edition is suddenly a file of 3MB+ like before that's usable like the hints under the download say.
Ok, we go with the flow...
