AVAST Not Free Anymore?

April 18, 2010 at 15:58:00
Specs: XP Media Center Edition 2002 SP 3, 2.8GHz / 1GB

I've been using AVAST home version more than a year and recently it forced me to update. When I did, I got a new version and now just a few days later it is prompting me that the program is about to expire and demanding that I buy - has AVAST changed it's policy or did I do something wrong?

avast registration last 1 year, after the year has passed you only need to renew it.

you only need to provide your email, and a registration code will be mail to you. and its free.

You didn't have a "paid" version (i.e.-Professional) on before, did you?

to my knowledge AVAST has not requested my email etc but i only had free version before. i will look for a link to register and see if that gets rid of the popup to upgrade. thanks.

I thought Avast always asked for an email address during
installation, primarily to try & make sure it's only used by home
users - the bit about trial period & free registration can be found
