Since I obviously have a trojan on my machine (see onoes.exe post) that AVAST missed, does anyone have a recommended AV for x84?

I am not running x64 but have very happy with the new antivir 7.0 seems to catch everything and isn't too intrusive. high risk surfer with no problems for over three years. I also run spybot, adaware, and Ccleaner which can be downloaded at http://www.majorgeeks.com/ very clean download site with a load of free stuff.

Avast (even the free version) is supposedly compatible with x64 - see here - so it's a problem with the AV program not the fact that you're running x64. I'm getting to believe that you get what you pay for with AV progs & ones like NOD & Kaspersky regularly do better than Avast, AVG et al.

I realize it is not an x64 issue, and I think that actually helped keep this virus from doing more damage. I only meant that the two major players, Symantec and McAfee don't have a retail version that runs on x64. I have been a Norton since day one, and this is the first virus besides MBlast, which I think everyone got. LOL Anyway, I think I will give Kaspersky a try. I need to do something as the Avast sucks IMHO. I tryed some other files I have that I know contain vius', ones I got off other machines, and ran them through jotti. Avast missed over half, and these, like the one I got, are old. Definately not something I could recommend.
