I removed a drive from a laptop that was starting up really slow. When I plug this drive into another machine as an external USB drive it asks me to create a LIVE ID or Add a .net Passport no matter what machine I plug it into and will not load until I close this down. I have removed all files from the C: drive that aren't needed to startup or run Windows. This "autostart" could be why it takes so long for a machine to startup since as soon as the drive is accessed it tries to run this software even before Windows loads. However I am stumped in finding a way to remove it other than formatting and re-installing. Have you guys ever come across this before?

Never seen this before. If you get a solution please post so we can see it in case others have the problem too.

Thanks,

Chris

Unfortunately it looks like I am probably going to have to format ad re-install but this would interresting to find what causes it or what hidden files need to be removed from what folders. Obviously there are no registry keys involved since it is an external drive. Using any process explorer comes up empty even when comparing with the drive plugged in and out.
